introduction
Anti-aging is to be understood as all measures that are carried out to slow down the aging process of the body and thus possibly to extend the life span.
Aging is influenced both negatively and positively by various factors.
The way of life of a person plays a very important role, including diet. Faster aging is triggered, for example, by a constant, one-sided diet with fatty foods, which can greatly reduce life expectancy.
In addition, the ingestion of various toxins such as alcohol and nicotine leads to the same rapid aging process. However, this does not mean that alcohol should not be consumed at all. Only extreme alcohol and nicotine consumption can greatly reduce life expectancy through such a lifestyle.
But not only diet but also other ways of life can accelerate the aging process of the body. This includes, for example, chronic lack of sleep, as the body does not have the opportunity to fully recover.
Another influencing factor on the lifespan of a person are in certain parts also the genes. If the previous generations in a family have reached a relatively old age, the probability is quite high that the average life expectancy of the descendants will also increase. Again, this does not mean that children whose parents died early have a low life expectancy. Rather, the living conditions of a person are also decisive.
In Europe, the average life expectancy is around 74-82 years.
The current maximum age is around 120 years. An even older age has not yet been reached.
How does anti aging work?
Anti aging aims to delay the aging process.
The lifestyle of the people plays a decisive role. Lifestyle includes diet, physical activity, sleep and psyche.
Anti aging products contain substances that stop the mutations in the genes of the mitochondria. These genetic changes in the mitochondria occur as the skin ages.
Another very well-known active ingredient is vitamin A acid, which by stimulating collagen formation delays skin aging processes and reduces those that have already occurred.
Collagen is a structural protein and occurs in connective tissue. It ensures the strength and flexibility of the connective tissue.
Since the collagen in the skin decreases with aging and the new formation works less and less, this is a popular approach of most anti aging products.
Skin aging goes hand in hand with the accumulation of oxidative stress.
This means the accumulation of free radicals that are no longer in balance with antioxidants.
This imbalance can lead to cells being destroyed by the free radicals.
Most anti aging products therefore contain vitamins C and E, which reduce the resulting oxidative stress.
When does aging begin?
The aging process begins around the age of 25.
Many people begin to counteract this before or afterwards.
Among other things through sport, a healthy diet or with certain cosmetics.
The distribution in the population is also very different here.
From people who do nothing or hardly anything about the aging process to those who take advantage of all kinds of treatments.
Anti aging through diet
A varied, healthy and balanced diet can not only reduce the risk of certain diseases, but also delay the aging process.
A simple distinction is made between foods that contain a lot of antioxidants and those with few antioxidants or those with a tendency to form free radicals.
The latter lead to wrinkling of the skin. This includes meat and other animal foods.
Dark berries, green vegetables like spinach or broccoli and green tea have a high concentration of antioxidants (vitamins A, C and E), which counteract the oxidative stress under the skin. In addition, fruits and vegetables contain a lot of fiber, which is necessary for healthy and regular digestion.
Nonetheless, carbohydrates should also be on the menu for a healthy diet.
However, you should be careful to consume whole grain products, as these, like fruits and vegetables, also contain plenty of fiber.
Fish and flaxseed oil contain omega-3 fatty acids, which are important for the maintenance of cell membranes in our body.
It is also assumed that omega-3 fatty acids have a positive effect on blood lipid levels and thus on the risk of arteriosclerosis.

How do you do an anti aging skin?
The skin loses a lot of moisture and elasticity with age. This causes it to become thinner, drier and more wrinkled.
The loss of elasticity is due to cell renewal, which slows down more and more.
This is exactly where you attack in the context of anti-aging.
If you want to keep young skin for as long as possible, you should protect yourself from strong solar radiation (UV radiation) as early as possible.
Because too much UV radiation can cause the body cells to lose their function and ability to regenerate.
In addition, collagen, a structural protein that ensures the strength and flexibility of our connective tissue, is broken down.
The nicotine in cigarettes not only damages the organs, but also the skin.
The skin of smokers is more prone to wrinkling than that of non-smokers. In addition, nicotine promotes the formation of free radicals.
Furthermore, you should always pay attention to a healthy diet. As already explained in detail under “Anti Aging through Diet”, there are foods that contain plenty of antioxidants and can counteract oxidative stress.
A balanced intake of these foods can ensure that the skin remains elastic and smooth for longer.
In addition, regular exercise is also a good antiaging agent. Physical exercise also stimulates blood circulation in the skin, which ensures that it is supplied with nutrients and metabolic end products can be removed.
Certain substances in anti-aging products stimulate cell renewal and the skin is supplied with moisture.
In addition, good anti aging products contain protection against solar radiation and antioxidants against free radicals.
Because with age, more and more free radicals accumulate, which can lead to the destruction of cells. Here it is important to reduce this so that cell regeneration can take place.
Thus, all measures are aimed at delaying skin aging and eliminating damage to the skin that has already occurred.
Wrinkles are smoothed and new wrinkles are prevented.

What is Anti Aging Serum?
An anti aging serum is a highly concentrated skin care product that is used before applying face creams.
The consistency is light and fluid compared to that of face creams.
This consistency allows the serums to penetrate the skin very quickly and reach deeper layers of the skin.
Since the molecules contained in the serums are even smaller, they can penetrate the skin barrier better.
In addition, serums do not contain any lipid replenishing substances that would stand in the way of this penetration into the skin.
This is also the crucial difference between a serum and a cream.
It is therefore also important to use the serum after skin care and BEFORE applying the face cream, otherwise the oily consistency of the cream would make it difficult for the serum to be absorbed into the skin.
The ingredients of anti aging serums are mostly: retinol, AHA and BHA acids, vitamins A, C and E.
Which anti aging creams are there?
Nowadays there is a no longer manageable number of products that promise anti-aging effects.
There are lotions and oils for the body and creams for the face and décolleté.
Anti aging body creams promote skin tightening and combat pigment spots that can develop with age.
Anti aging face creams come in two versions: A distinction is made between night creams and day creams.
Day care is lighter than night care and is absorbed more quickly into the skin.
Night care, on the other hand, is more rich in nourishing substances.
Anti aging face cream
The anti aging face cream is available as a day cream as well as a night cream.
The day cream has a light consistency and is consequently absorbed into the skin more quickly.
They should be applied to the face, neck and décolleté in the morning after cleansing the skin and before applying cosmetic products.
Then you can put on make-up as usual.
Night creams are also applied in the evening after cleansing the skin.
If you also want to use an anti-aging serum, the cream is only applied afterwards like the day care (see above).
The night cream is more rich in nourishing substances and is not absorbed as quickly as a day cream.
Face creams contain substances that the skin can no longer produce on its own due to aging. These are: retinol, vitamin C, collagen, hyaluronic acid and coenzyme Q10.
Retinol ensures a good metabolism in the skin.
As an antioxidant, vitamin C reduces oxidative stress, collagen (a natural structural protein in connective tissue) ensures the strength of the connective tissue.
Hyaluronic acid is also found in connective tissue and, due to its property, binds water. This ensures that the skin is plumped up and smoothed.
The coenzyme Q10 combats free radicals, which can lead to the destruction of cells.
Anti aging eye cream
Anti aging eye creams add moisture to the skin around the eyes and should also be able to smooth out small wrinkles.
They do not contain any special active ingredients for the eye area, but also those that are also used in anti aging face creams (see above).
However, oils and perfumes are deliberately avoided in these eye creams in order to prevent irritation of the sensitive eyes.
Anti aging hand cream
There are also anti aging creams specially formulated for the hands that moisturize the skin of the hands that has been exposed to the environment.
They also contain the usual anti-aging substances such as retinol, vitamin C, hyaluronic acid, etc., which delay skin aging and can reduce wrinkles that have already formed.
These hand creams are usually richer than the anti-aging face creams because the skin of the hands is thicker and more durable than that of the face.
Anti aging sunscreen
Most anti aging creams contain a sun protection factor.
Because UV radiation damages the skin and promotes skin aging.
It is therefore important to protect the skin from strong sunlight as early as possible.
Anti aging and vitamins
There are numerous vitamins that can help reduce the risk of certain diseases.
In addition, they can make your skin look radiant and younger.
In the following some important vitamins for anti aging are listed and what they are contained in.
- Vitamin B2: reduces dryness and itching of the skin -> broccoli, eggs, yogurt
- Vitamin B3: said to offer some protection against skin cancer; maintains the natural skin barrier -> tomatoes, potatoes, eggs, chicken breast, tuna
- Vitamin B5: moisturizes the skin -> eggs, mushrooms, legumes, fish
- Vitamin B6: reduces dryness and acne, has hormone-regulating effects -> spinach, broccoli, chicken breast
- Vitamin B7: helps against itching, maintains skin moisture -> soybeans, cauliflower, salmon, almonds, walnuts
- Vitamin B12: combats hyperpigmentation, which often occurs with increasing age -> dairy products, eggs, meat, seafood
- Vitamin C: combats damage to the skin caused by UV radiation; reduces pigmentation disorders -> kiwi, berries, oranges, grapefruit
- Vitamin D: supports the cell renewal of the skin -> cheese, yoghurt, salmon
- Vitamin E: ensures firmness of the skin, lightening of pigment spots, reduction of wrinkles -> wheat, shrimp, avocados
- Vitamin K: supports the skin's elasticity and reduces the wrinkles that have formed -> chicken, cauliflower, spinach
Anti aging shampoo
Not only does our skin change with age, but also our hair.
The drop in hormones such as estrogen leads to the hair becoming thinner, more brittle and weak.
Increased hair loss is also often noticeable.
As the blood flow to the scalp decreases with aging, fewer micronutrients reach the hair.
This also has the consequence that the hair roots become weak and the hair grows thin and weak.
There are now special shampoos that are supposed to reduce the effects of the aging process on the hair.
What they all have in common is that they are gentler and more lipid-replenishing than the usual shampoos.
They contain neither silicones nor sulfates and do not remove too much moisture from the hair and scalp.
There are also hair shampoos and care products that contain hyaluronic acid.
When hyaluronic acid penetrates the hair structure and scalp, it binds more water due to its properties.
As a result, the hair and scalp are more moisturized. This soothes an itchy scalp and makes thin, structureless hair smoother.
Some shampoos contain caffeine.
Caffeine is said to improve blood flow to the scalp.
The better the scalp is supplied with blood, the easier it is for nutrients to reach the hair roots.
This reduces hair loss and strengthens thin, brittle hair.
Anti aging through natural cosmetics
Most anti aging products attack where a deficiency has arisen due to aging.
They contain substances that the body no longer produces independently or only to a very small extent. Consequently, there are many natural substances that also occur in the body.
A very well-known natural substance is hyaluronic acid.
It occurs in our connective tissue and has the property of binding many water molecules. This makes the skin appear more elastic and smoother.
Furthermore, one of the natural anti aging agents is collagen.
This structural protein also occurs naturally in our connective tissue. It ensures the firmness and flexibility of the connective tissue, which is why it becomes necessary to strengthen collagen formation and regeneration with increasing age, be it through an external supply or stimulation by vitamin A acid.
Another substance that supplies our cells with energy is the coenzyme Q10.
This vitamin-like substance is also produced less and less by the body itself with increasing age. Therefore, many anti aging agents supply the skin with this energy supplier.
What is to be made of the anti-aging concept from a medical point of view?
The aging process is a natural biological process that cannot - as one so often hopes - be stopped.
One can only delay aging. So it's best to start doing this as early as possible.
The most significant point to start with is lifestyle.
A healthy lifestyle not only delays aging, but also reduces the risk of old-age diseases.
The healthy lifestyle is multifactorial and includes nutrition, physical activity, sleep and psyche.
If these aspects are in harmony, one speaks of a balanced, healthy lifestyle.
Anti aging is therefore most effective the earlier it is started.
Because if the aging process has already started, it is more difficult to slow it down.
However, it is never too late to change your lifestyle to a healthy one.
The effect on aging and the diseases associated with it, however, decreases the later in life this change takes place.
Anti-aging products for the skin, such as creams, serums, masks and cures have an effect on skin aging, otherwise they should not be sold, but this effect is very small. Because many substances cannot penetrate into the deep layers of the skin where they are needed.
On the surface of the skin they lead to a smooth, even complexion, but this is only temporary. An actual reduction in wrinkles can only be achieved by a few millimeters with these anti aging products.
It is therefore all the more important to strengthen the body's own metabolic processes through a sufficient supply of vitamins.
Because what gets into the body has a much stronger effect.
history
The search for the fountain of youth began back then around 1513, as the aging process was already there
- Hardship
- illness
and - load
was connected. But there were no effective anti-aging products, wellness cures or optimal medical care as they are today.
Rather, the mythological notion was widespread that somewhere in the world there had to be a means that would give forever youthful beauty and strength. Among other things, this drove an entire expedition under the command of the Spanish captain Juan Ponce de Léon in 1513 to search for the island of Bimini. Here, according to Indian legends, the source should be in the form of a fountain whose miraculous water should keep young forever. However, the fountain of youth was not discovered. But Florida.
Since then, there has been a continuous effort to reverse the aging process or at least slow it down.
