Ligament tear / stretched ligament

The most common accident-related disease of the ankle joint (ankle joint) is Torn ligament / Ligament stretch of the outer ankle. The transition from a stretch to a crack is fluid.
In most cases it is something called a Supination trauma of the outer ankle. The typical mechanism of an accident is twisting over the outer edge of the foot.
The anterior fibulotalar ligament is particularly often affected.

Hip osteoarthritis / knee osteoarthritis

The ankle joint stands like the knee joint and hip joint under the load (body weight) of the entire body.
Due to the high pressure load, cartilage wear and tear (arthrosis of the ankle) occurs in the course of life.
Ankle arthrosis, however, is much rarer than, for example, one Knee osteoarthritis (Gonarthrosis) or a Hip osteoarthritis (Coxarthrosis).
Footballers suffer from ankle osteoarthritis more than average due to the sport-specific stress.

Osteochondrosis dissecans

A rare disease is that Osteochondrosis dissecans (OD). This is a regional bone death of unknown cause.
In most cases the medial talus roll (inside of the talus) is affected. A triggering accident event may be missing.
