Relax your neck

How is a tight neck treated?

If you suffer from tension in the Neck muscles, one should first find out why these problems occur. Basically, you should eliminate the cause before starting treatment. Does the tension come through a one-sided attitudee.g. Sitting for too long, you should be careful to change your sitting position at least every 15 minutes. A quick head lift or head circles for a few seconds is enough before you return to your usual posture. Every hour you should leave your workplace and change your position for a few minutes. This method is intended to prevent the neck muscles from becoming overworked and staying in one position for too long.

In addition, a so-called blackroll, a self-massage roller, can provide relief from tension in the neck.

Is the cause of the tight neck muscles in one psychosomatic If the situation is justified, it usually does not help to counteract this with muscle-relaxing exercises, as the cause is otherwise justified. One should general relaxing Exercises perform at home. These can e.g. based on autogenic training be used regularly. If the cause lies in a psychologically stressed life situation, in most cases not only the neck muscles but also the other body muscles are very tense and show Myogelosis. Autogenic training can also be helpful for the other muscles in the body. If there is no improvement, you should consider changing the psychologically stressful situation, if possible, or rearranging it so that it is bearable for you.
If the cause of the muscle tension is too much draft and the cold, the air supply should be turned off (close the window in the car) in order to stop the draft and the cold. In addition to reducing the cause, there is the possibility of dealing with the complaints in three different ways.

Physiotherapeutic treatment

Muscle tension and myogelosis are best relieved by massage. The patient should either lie on their stomach or sit and bend their head forward. The masseur should then perform a circular motion with both hands on the left and right of the cervical spine. In places where myogelosis is noticeable, you should initially remain and the circulating movements should be carried out more forcefully. After one to two minutes, the area should be left and then circulated upwards. In the same session you should then return to the site of the myogelosis in order to try again with light pressure and in a circular motion to dissolve the myogelosis.

Massages should be repeated at regular intervals to prevent hardenings from returning quickly. Massages in the tense area are often described as painful by those affected, especially since the myogeloses are very sensitive to pressure. Nevertheless, a successful massage makes it necessary to increase the pressure on the tense muscles.

As part of physiotherapy, an attempt can also be made to reduce the pain with the use of cold and heat. It should be noted, however, that with acute tension, the muscles already have too little oxygen and are in a nutritional debt. If you start applying heat at this point, the metabolic processes are even stimulated, i.e. the few nutrients that reach the muscles are also quickly removed again, which means that the muscles have even less energy. Heat pillows and general heat applications should only be carried out in the case of chronic muscle tension. A treatment attempt with cold applications can be undertaken in any case.

In the long term, yoga can relieve and prevent tension in the neck.

The spine is difficult to treat. On the one hand it is exposed to high mechanical loads, on the other hand it has great mobility.

The treatment of the spine (e.g. herniated disc, facet syndrome, foramen stenosis, etc.) therefore requires a lot of experience.
I focus on a wide variety of diseases of the spine.
The aim of any treatment is treatment without surgery.

Which therapy achieves the best results in the long term can only be determined after looking at all of the information (Examination, X-ray, ultrasound, MRI, etc.) be assessed.

Medication

In the case of very strong tension, it can also be necessary medicinal proceed. Stand for this case Pain medication available, mostly next to a pain reliever Function also one anti-inflammatory Function. In very severe cases, drugs can also be used that are otherwise used in neurological diseases (e.g. epilepsy). These drugs screw the Muscle tone and cause the muscles to lose their own strength. The result of a partial muscle relaxation is that the tension subsides. It is important to note that once the medication has been removed, the symptoms will worsen again if the actual cause of the tension is not eliminated.
There is also the option of injecting drugs to relax the muscles directly into the affected muscle. Here, too, the return of the complaints must be observed if the actual situation is not changed. In recent years, in addition to conventional medicine and physiotherapeutic methods traditional Chinese methods for the treatment of muscle tension. The decisive factor here is acupuncturewhich is quite successful with regular use. Needles are inserted close to the neck muscles at appropriate intervals and left there for a while. The sessions should be repeated at regular intervals before an improvement in symptoms can be expected.
