Parodontax® - toothpaste

introduction

Many people suffer from bleeding gums - especially in old age. The bleeding gums are due to a bacterial inflammation of the gums.

In the Parodontax®-Toothpaste it is a toothpaste that has an antibacterial effect and thus prevents bacterial inflammation. It is particularly used against bleeding gums.

Parodontax® is produced by the British pharmaceutical company Glaxo Smith Kline. The toothpaste is available in four versions: "Fluoride", "Classic fluoride-free", "Naturally white" and "Extra fresh".

Indications

The so-called Periodontium (the tooth-holding apparatus) holds the tooth firmly in the jawbone. It consists of Gums, dental cement, osseous tooth socket and periodontal membrane. However, the periodontium can become inflamed by a settlement of plaque bacteria (dental plaque). This is called "periodontal disease". Among other things, this leads to the regression of the gums and bone loss in the jawbone.

As a result, the bone can no longer hold the tooth so tightly. Subsequently, the tooth can loosen, which in the worst case leads to the tooth falling out. The The first signs of periodontal disease are bleeding gums and inflammation of the gums. In addition, the gums recede.

The Parodontax® toothpaste helps to combat periodontitis and the associated symptoms and to prevent it from occurring again.

effect

The most important effect of Parodontax® toothpaste is the prevention of inflammation of the gums or the gums. Bleeding gums are also related to the inflammation and are combated with the Parodontax® toothpaste.

The colonization by plaque bacteria is the cause of these symptoms. The Parodontax® toothpaste contains sodium bicarbonate particles. These break through the plaque and help remove the plaque. This also removes the bacteria that are in the dental plaque. By removing the bacteria, the risk of inflammation is reduced.

According to the manufacturer, it is more effective than other toothpastes. Both the direct inflammation of the gums and the inflammation of the gums should be effectively prevented. In addition to sodium bicarbonate, the toothpaste contains various herbs. On the one hand, these are beneficial for a fresh taste. In addition, various herbs (chamomile, sage) are said to have anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effects. This also prevents inflammation in the mouth. Sage, myrrh and rattan are also said to have a protective effect on the oral mucous membranes.

If you don't choose Parodontax® Classic (without fluoride), the toothpaste also contains fluoride, which strengthens the tooth enamel and prevents the formation of caries.

Active ingredient (with fluoride)

The Parodontax® toothpaste is represented, among other things, with a fluoride-containing version. The concentration of fluoride is 1400 ppm (parts per million = mg / kg). In our mouth, acids are created by plaque bacteria that exist in our mouth. These plaque bacteria metabolize sugar, which is absorbed through our food. These acids, which are formed from sugar, attack the tooth when the tooth enamel is not strong enough. The result is the incidence of tooth decay. However, fluoride strengthens teeth by providing minerals to tooth enamel. The resilient tooth enamel is now better equipped against the acids that would otherwise damage the tooth.

Without fluoride = Classic

The Parodontax® toothpaste can also be purchased without fluoride enrichment. Since there is a lot of discussion about whether fluoride might be dangerous for the human body, some people consciously avoid substances that are enriched with fluoride.

It should be said that there are no known negative effects of fluoride in the dosages that are commonly used. In the body, fluoride is an important component of the bones and teeth. If you decide to avoid fluoride, you can use the Parodontax® toothpaste without fluoride.

Side effects

Side effects of the Parodontax® toothpaste are currently unknown. However, the dosage should be adhered to, especially with Parodontax® Fluoride. This means that you shouldn't brush your teeth with the toothpaste more than three times a day.

Children under 12 years of age should not use Parodontax® toothpaste. In addition, the toothpaste should not be swallowed. Spit out the toothpaste after brushing your teeth.

If there is an allergy or intolerance to one of the ingredients, the Parodontax® toothpaste should not be used.

Discoloration of teeth

Since the toothpaste is pink in color, you might think that the Parodontax® toothpaste is causing discoloration.

However, the opposite is the case: as the plaque is removed, the teeth appear lighter than before. In addition, the bacteria that were in the plaque are removed. This will prevent future discoloration from tooth decay.

There is also another version of the Parodontax® toothpaste: "Parodontax naturally white". In addition to the usual effects, this version has a stronger friction effect. This is due to the higher concentration of the cleaning material, which is supposed to whiten the teeth.
