Symptoms in orthopedics
The page Symptoms in Orthopedics deals primarily with pain in different locations of the body. Knee, shoulder and back pain are quite common. These can have different causes and are therefore treated differently.
On the following pages you will find information on the various symptoms and their causes as well as their therapy.

Who am I?
My name is dr. Nicolas Gumpert. I am a specialist in orthopedics and the founder of .
Various television programs and print media report regularly about my work. On HR television you can see me every 6 weeks live on "Hallo Hessen".
But now enough is indicated ;-)
In order to be able to treat successfully in orthopedics, a thorough examination, diagnosis and a medical history are required.
In our very economic world in particular, there is too little time to thoroughly grasp the complex diseases of orthopedics and thus initiate targeted treatment.
I don't want to join the ranks of "quick knife pullers".
The aim of any treatment is treatment without surgery.
Which therapy achieves the best results in the long term can only be determined after looking at all of the information (Examination, X-ray, ultrasound, MRI, etc.) be assessed.

Lower extremity pain
Pain in the knee
In the case of pain in the knee, a distinction is made between injury-related and wear-related causes. Injury-related causes are mainly meniscus and ligament tears, while the causes due to wear are mainly knee osteoarthritis or Baker's cyst. There are various tests on the knee that the doctor can use to determine a specific injury.

Pain in the calf
Pain in the calf is mainly due to circulatory diseases. Circulatory disorders, vascular calcifications and possibly also a blockage of a vessel (thrombosis) can be behind the pain. This should be differentiated from, for example, calf cramps, which are also often the cause of pain in the calf. These can arise from under or overuse or a magnesium deficiency.

Pain in the foot
If there is pain in the foot from injuries, it is often a torn ligament. Often, however, pain in the foot also occurs as a result of deformities in the foot. These include, above all, misalignments of the foot, but hallux valgus is also a typical disease. Wear-related pain can also occur, for example with osteoarthritis of the ankle.
