What does an eyelash coloring set contain?
In order to dye the eyelashes, you need professional equipment that you can buy in the drugstore. The eyelash color can be selected between black or various brown tones.
An eyelash coloring set contains the selected eyelash color, a developer cream, an applicator, a jar for mixing the coloring and special cotton pads that are attached under the eye area. The developer (also called oxidant) is a cream that has to be mixed with the paint shortly before the paint is applied, thus initiating a chemical reaction.
In addition, you should have cotton swabs, a greasy cream (e.g. Vaseline) and handkerchiefs ready before you dye your eyelashes.

Instructions for coloring eyelashes
-
First of all, the eyes and eyelashes must be thoroughly removed and the eyelash hairs and lids degreased. If you use make-up remover containing oil, the eyelashes must then be degreased with a mild facial toner.
-
Next, you should put some fat cream (petroleum jelly) on the skin under the eyes. Make sure that no cream gets on the eyelashes, otherwise the eyelash color cannot adhere.
-
Now the pads included in the eyelash set must be placed carefully and as close as possible to the lower lash line.
-
Then dip a cotton swab into the developer solution and apply it to the upper and lower lashes.
-
In the next step, the color is applied to the eyelashes with the included eyelash comb or a new cotton swab. Start at the lash line and spread the color down to the tips. Make sure that the paint is evenly distributed.
-
Now let the color take effect according to the instructions on the package (3-5 minutes).
-
Finally, the eyes must be cleaned with a damp cotton pad. This should be done with your eyes closed so that no paint gets into the eye.
Depending on the exercise, allow 10-30 minutes to color your eyelashes.

Coloring eyelashes is not harmful if the color is used properly. The proportion of hydrogen peroxide contained in the eyelash color is around 1%, in contrast to this, hair dyes for bleaching contain around 10% hydrogen peroxide.

Eyelash colors can also lead to allergies. Test the color the first time you use it. To do this, dab some paint on a small spot in the crook of your arm and see if the skin is itchy or red.

Can I also dye the eyelashes with hair color?
Under no circumstances should you use normal hair color to dye your eyelashes. This is far too aggressive and often contains ingredients that can irritate the sensitive mucous membranes of the eye. Hair dyes also lack the necessary equipment such as cotton pads, a developer cream and an eyelash comb for applying the color.
Can you color the eyebrows directly?
If you still have enough color left after tinting your eyelashes, you can also dye your eyebrows. However, you should note that the same shade will not go for the eyebrows as well. The eyebrow color should be chosen one to two shades darker than the hair color than the hair color. However, the eyelash color is usually chosen to be darker (dark brown or black) and does not fit as an eyebrow color.
