Plant description
Evergreen shrub or tree, can grow up to 10 m high and reach a great age. It can be found wild and in cultures throughout the Mediterranean but also in Northern Europe.
The leathery leaves shine on the top, are arched at the edge and have an aromatic smell. The small white flowers appear in spring and form sham umbels or short panicles. From this, egg-shaped, black berries ripen.
